About Aik Habil South Lighthouse
Aik Habil South is a green skeletal tower 10 meters in height, with its focal plane also at 10 meters. It is mounted on a platform supported by pyramidal piles situated on a shoal. The light emits a single green flash every 5 seconds, visible for 10.4 nautical miles. This navigational aid is located 0.4 kilometers from Sibolga, Sumatra, near the southern approach to the port. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This light warns vessels of a shoal at the southern entrance to Sibolga's harbor.
