About Pulau Buangbuang Lighthouse
Pulau Buangbuang is a white, square metal framework tower standing 82 meters tall. Its focal plane is 28 meters above sea level, and it emits a white flash every 5 seconds, providing a geographic range of 15 nautical miles. The tower is accompanied by several coast guard station buildings. This structure is situated on a small island at the southeastern edge of the Banggai group.
Why it matters: It marks a narrow passage between the Banggai reefs and those of the Sula group.
