About Pasuruan Lighthouse
A square skeletal tower made of steel, standing 25 meters tall, was first lit in 1880 to mark the entrance to Pasuruan harbor. This 35-meter focal height structure, painted white, sits atop a two-story building and features a lantern and gallery. It emits a single white flash every five seconds, visible for 16.2 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated downtown, at the end of the harbor channel, integrated into the urban landscape rather than a remote coastal point. While the site is open to the public, the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for the safe navigation of local fishing boats and small craft entering Pasuruan harbor from the Strait. Its downtown location underscores its direct connection to the commercial life of the port city.
