This cylindrical concrete tower stands 9 meters tall and emits a green light. Located on the western end of La Spezia's outer breakwater, it marks the harbor entrance known as the Passo di Ponente. The tower, painted green, features a lantern and gallery and stands 11 meters above sea level. Its light produces a single green flash every 4 seconds, visible for nearly 11 nautical miles. The structure is situated just off Punta Santa Maria della Spezia, framing the main passage into the port.
Why it matters: This light warns vessels of the western extremity of the outer breakwater and, with its counterpart, establishes a navigational corridor for entering La Spezia's harbor through the Passo di Ponente.
