A round stone tower with a red lantern and gallery, the Æðey Lighthouse stands 13 meters tall on the southern tip of Æðey island, located off the north shore of Ísafjörður. Its focal height reaches 26 meters above sea level. The lighthouse emits two white flashes every 22 seconds, with a geographic range of 14.5 nautical miles. Construction of the tower was completed in 1944, but due to World War II equipment shortages, its light was not first activated until 1949. The tower is painted white with a red lantern.
