This 16.5-meter round cast iron sparkplug tower, built in 1906, stands on a small island marking the entrance to Norwalk Harbor. The tower is painted white with a broad red band, while its lantern and caisson are black. The lighthouse emits a green flashing light every 2.5 seconds, visible for 12.8 nautical miles. It was repainted in 1997 and has undergone significant restoration efforts, with work completed in late 2020.
Why it matters: The lighthouse guides recreational vessels entering Norwalk Harbor and warns mariners of Peck Ledge. Its distinctive sparkplug design and recent community-led restoration highlight its architectural and cultural significance.
