About Verøya Lighthouse
Also known as: Verøya (Værholmen)
Located on the southern tip of the island, the Verøya lighthouse is a 7-meter skeletal structure painted white with a red roof. Its lantern and gallery are situated on tripod piles, a construction method appropriate for its marine setting. The light source is positioned at a focal height of 4 meters. The operational light flashes twice every 8 seconds (Oc(2) 8s) and displays sectors of white, red, or green light. It provides a geographic range of 7.9 nautical miles. The site is accessible to the public, but the tower remains closed.
Why it matters: This navigation aid marks the southern extremity of Værøy, directing vessels with its colored light through these coastal waters.
