The Tateyama Lighthouse, a cylindrical concrete tower standing 9.5 meters tall, was built in 1971. Painted white, it featured a gallery and had a focal height of 45 meters, casting a white light visible for 22 nautical miles. The structure was described as being round and hourglass-shaped. It was situated on Okino Shima, an island now connected to the mainland by a causeway, marking the entrance to Tateyama harbor, which is sheltered by Suno Saki. The lighthouse ceased operations in 2009 and was later demolished.
