Built in 1987, it serves as an active aid to navigation, emitting a green flash every three seconds. The light is visible for 12.7 nautical miles from a focal height of 18 meters. The structure, which includes a lantern and gallery, is located 0.8 kilometers from the nearest port, Kagoshima. It is situated at the terminus of a 1.5-kilometer breakwater extending into the bay.
