This lighthouse marks the end of the north breakwater for Taniyama harbor, located south of Kagoshima city. Constructed in 1980, it is a red, cylindrical concrete tower that stands 17 meters tall. The lighthouse emits an isophase white light on a 4-second cycle. It provides a geographic range of 12.4 nautical miles. The tower includes a lantern and gallery and is not open to the public.
