About Taitō Saki Lighthouse
This cylindrical concrete lighthouse was completed in 1952. It stands 16 meters tall from its base, with the light positioned 72 meters above sea level. The structure includes a lantern room and gallery atop a one-story keeper's house. Its white light emits a single flash every 10 seconds, visible for over 21 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated on a promontory about 6 kilometers northeast of Ōhara. While the tower itself is closed to the public, the grounds are open for visitors.
Why it matters: The light guides vessels around the headland northeast of Ōhara, aiding coastal traffic. The Taitō Saki Lighthouse Club helps maintain the lighthouse grounds.
