Location & Light Range
About St. Francis Island Lighthouse
The lighthouse on St. Francis Island was first lit in 1924. The original 13-meter skeletal tower, built of fiberglass, was later replaced. Its Fresnel lens was transferred to the Cape Banks lighthouse. The current structure is a white fiberglass cabinet, standing 4 meters tall. Its light is visible from a focal height of 86 meters, with a geographic range of 23.3 nautical miles. The light emits one white flash every 20 seconds.
Why it matters: The lighthouse aids navigation in the Nuyts Archipelago, guiding vessels around St. Francis Island.
