About Shàngshuāngshì Lighthouse
The Shàngshuāngshì lighthouse is a red, cylindrical concrete tower built around 2001 to replace an earlier structure. The current lighthouse stands 11.5 meters tall, with its light positioned 27 meters above sea level. It emits a red flash every 4 seconds, visible for 14.7 nautical miles. This light guides vessels through the Shàngshu Channel, a narrow passage on the west side of Liùhédǎo, situated on a small island 4.3 kilometers from Liuheng port. The original station was established in 1957 with a smaller tower.
