About Scituate Lighthouse Lighthouse
This cylindrical granite and brick tower, standing 15 meters tall, was built and first lit in 1811. Its white exterior contrasts with the green lantern and gallery, a replica of which was installed in 1930. The lighthouse was heightened by 15 feet in 1827 and closed in 1860. The keeper's house later served the Scituate North Jetty Light between 1891 and 1924. After being reactivated in 1994, the lighthouse saw historical displays added in 2001. A stone revetment was finished in late 2013, and the structure underwent significant restoration, including the lantern's removal in October 2022 and reinstallation in November 2023, before being relighted in August 2024.
