About Rosen Point Lighthouse
Constructed in 2003, this 21-meter square masonry tower displays black and white horizontal bands. It is a two-stage structure, featuring a 15-meter square base topped by a 6-meter skeletal tower. The light produces a white flash every 10 seconds (Fl W 10s) from a focal height of 23 meters, covering a distance of 13.8 nautical miles. The site is accessible to the public, but the tower is not. It is situated on Great Nicobar Island, about 5 km southeast of Campbell Bay's entrance. Sabang, Sumatra, lies 104.2 km distant.
Why it matters: This lighthouse serves as a navigation aid for Campbell Bay on Great Nicobar Island. Its two-part construction, mixing masonry and a skeletal section, is a distinct feature.
