The Petropavlovsk Lighthouse is a 14-meter tall cylindrical tower constructed of cast iron. It features a round tower with a lantern and galley, painted with distinctive black and white horizontal bands. Operational since 1897, this structure replaced earlier wooden aids to navigation. The light emits a white flash visible for 24.1 nautical miles. The lighthouse site is accessible to the public, but the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: Positioned at a focal height of 93 meters, the light provides a critical warning for vessels navigating the entrance to Avacha Bay. Its black and white banding ensures easy identification against the coastline.
