About Miyanoura Breakwater Lighthouse
This white, cylindrical concrete lighthouse stands 8.5 meters tall and is situated at the extremity of a detached breakwater. A square, single-story concrete equipment room supports the post. The light emits a green flash every 4 seconds from a focal height of 17 meters, visible for 12.4 nautical miles. The site is accessible, though the tower itself is closed to the public. It is located at Miyanoura, a small port about 5 km north of Toi Misaki in Kushima.
Why it matters: This light marks the end of the detached breakwater, guiding local fishing vessels and other small craft safely into and out of Miyanoura port.
