Megi Shima lighthouse began operation in 1956 on the southern tip of its namesake island. The structure is a 10-meter-tall, round, cylindrical tower made of white fiberglass. Its light emits a single white flash every 6 seconds from a focal height of 46 meters. The geographic range of the light is 18.1 nautical miles. The lighthouse site is open to visitors, though the tower itself is closed to the public. Access is via a short hiking trail from the island's coast.
