About Little Mark Island Monument Lighthouse
Constructed in 1827, the Little Mark Island Monument serves as both a day beacon and a shipwreck refuge. This pyramidal stone structure is located on Little Mark Island in the northern part of Casco Bay, off the coast of southern Maine. It is one of only three similar structures built in the state. The United States Coast Guard currently manages the monument, which is topped by a beacon light. The monument remains an active aid to navigation.
