About Îles Habibas Lighthouse
Constructed in 1879, the Îles Habibas lighthouse is situated on the westernmost of two rocky islands, positioned approximately 11 kilometers northwest of Cap Sigale. The structure is a 12-meter-high square masonry tower, rising from a one-story keeper's house, with a black lantern and gallery atop its white exterior. Its light has a focal height of 112 meters and emits a single white flash every five seconds, visible for 26.1 nautical miles. The lighthouse is located near Ain El Kerma and is about 25 kilometers from the nearest port, Oran.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the rocky Îles Habibas, a navigational hazard northwest of Cap Sigale. Its operation also supports the Réserve Naturelle Marine des Îles Habibas.
