About Îles Chausey Lighthouse
Constructed of stone, the Îles Chausey lighthouse was built in 1847 and first lit the same year. The structure is a cylindrical stone tower, 19 meters high, rising from a two-story keeper's house. It features a lantern and gallery at its summit. This lighthouse emits a single white flash every 5 seconds, visible for nearly 17 nautical miles. During World War II, the tower sustained significant damage. Extensive reconstruction efforts were undertaken after the war, with the light returning to service in 1950. The site is open to the public, though access to the tower itself is prohibited.
