Built in 1966, Kome Saki lighthouse is a cylindrical white concrete tower measuring 10 meters in height. Its light source is situated 25 meters above mean sea level. The lighthouse complex features a round concrete tower that emerges from a single-story equipment building. The light produces an isophase white flash every 6 seconds, with a recorded range of 14.3 nautical miles. Positioned on a headland on the western side of the Okayama harbor entrance, the lighthouse site is accessible to visitors, but the tower remains closed. The nearest port is Yamada, 2.5 kilometers away.
Why it matters: This lighthouse provides navigation aid for vessels entering and leaving Okayama harbor, supporting maritime commerce in the region.
