Situated in the Byfjord, it lies directly beneath the Nordhordlandsbrua, a bridge completed in 1994. The bridge's construction altered the lighthouse's visibility from certain vantage points. Although the tower is closed to the public, the site remains accessible, offering views of the lighthouse next to the large bridge structure. The lighthouse is 1.3 kilometers from the nearest port, Flatoy.
