The Kesennuma Range Rear lighthouse, constructed in 1971, stands 18 meters tall on forested heights overlooking the eastern side of upper Kesennuma Wan. This square pyramidal skeletal steel tower, painted white, has a focal height of 108 meters and emits a white flash every 10 seconds. Its geographic range extends to 25.7 nautical miles. The lighthouse is situated across from the harbor, about 0.5 kilometers from the nearest port of Kesennuma. While the site is open to visitors, the tower itself is closed to the public.
