About Jiǔcàituózi Lighthouse
A round, cylindrical concrete tower 8.5 meters high, built in 1973, marked the north side of the entrance to Dàlián Wān. This structure, which featured a 1-story equipment room at its base, was formerly situated on a small island southwest of the Shātuózi lighthouse. Its focal plane reached 18 meters, emitting a white light with a flash every 6 seconds, visible for 12.7 nautical miles. The lighthouse served vessels navigating toward Dalian, a port that has since developed into an oil terminal. The tower has since been removed, with its navigational duties assumed by a nearby light.
Why it matters: Its removal and replacement reflect the dynamic changes in maritime infrastructure, adapting to the area's transformation into an oil terminal.
