Built in 1836, the Goulphar Lighthouse is a 52-meter tall granite structure. The tower is circular, colored red and grey, and originates from a two-story circular foundation linked to an extensive keeper's residence comprising one and two-story wings. From a focal height of 87 meters, it produces a white flash every 10 seconds (Fl W 10s), with a geographic range of 23.4 nautical miles. The facility, near Bangor, France, welcomes visitors and is 3.8 kilometers from the port of Le Palais. It has been active since its completion.
Why it matters: The 19th-century granite building and attached keeper's housing reflect the construction methods of its era. Its continued function serves as a marker for vessels navigating the French coastline.
