About Dochinyeo Lighthouse

Dochinyeo Lighthouse is a metal, cylindrical tower standing 12 meters tall, with its focal plane at 10 meters above sea level. Painted black with a single red horizontal band, it guides vessels with a white light that flashes once every 5 seconds. This structure is located on the east side of the entrance to Jinhae harbor in South Korea's South Gyeongsang region. Its geographic range extends to 10.4 nautical miles. The site is accessible by boat, though the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for marking the eastern approach to Jinhae harbor and warning vessels of a reef.
