Djupbåen Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Djupbåen Lighthouse
Djupbåen Lighthouse is situated on a platform supported by piles on a skerry just off the northern tip of the Gåsvær group in Norway's Nordland region. The structure, built from piles and metal, features a 6.5-meter lantern and gallery. It is painted white with a red roof and stands 11.5 meters above the water. The lighthouse emits a white, red, or green light with three flashes every 5 seconds. Reaching this isolated station is only possible by boat, and while the site is open to visitors, the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for vessels navigating the complex waters around the Gåsvær group, warning them of the hazardous skerry it marks and guiding them through safe channels.
