About Dàcàihuāshān Lighthouse
This white, cylindrical stone lighthouse, standing 11 meters tall, was first lit in 1927. Its focal height reaches 33 meters, providing a geographic range of 15.9 nautical miles. The structure is a round masonry tower with a lantern and gallery, painted white. The lighthouse emits a white flash every three seconds. It was restored after World War II and again in 2002 following damage from a lightning strike. The station remains staffed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is essential for navigating the western entrance to the Luótóu Channel.
