About Bayfield Rock Range Front Lighthouse
The Bayfield Rock Range Front light is a cylindrical steel tower, 13 meters high, located on the northwestern point of Sugar Island. First lit in 1892, its structure was updated in 1913 with an octagonal wood tower. The tower is painted red and carries a red rectangular daymark featuring a white vertical stripe. It emits a continuous white light with a geographic range of 10.7 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
