Barra Point Lighthouse, constructed of masonry, was built and first lit in 1833. The tower, painted white with a black lantern, stands 18 meters tall. Its focal height is 18 meters above sea level. The light emits a white flash followed by a red and green flash, repeating every 3 seconds. This navigational aid guides vessels entering the Sea of the Hebrides from the Atlantic Ocean.
