A lighthouse was established on Baker Island in 1828 to mark the southern entrance to Frenchman Bay. The current tower was constructed in 1855, standing 13 meters tall with its light positioned 32 meters above sea level. Its former white light is no longer active. The structure is situated within Acadia National Park.
