About Tri Sestrice Rivanj {Tre Sorelle} Lighthouse
The Tri Sestrice Rivanj lighthouse, also known as Tre Sorelle, was built in 1899. It is a stone cylindrical tower, 16 meters tall, situated on a small island off the northwest tip of Otok Rivanj. The tower is attached to a one-story keeper's house. Its light emits two white or red flashes every five seconds. This lighthouse is located about 16 kilometers northwest of Zadar and is one of three "sister" lighthouses in the region.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is one of the Tri Sestrice group, indicating a coordinated system for maritime safety in the island passages off Otok Rivanj. Its directional white and red flashes provide precise guidance through specific channels in the Adriatic Sea.
