Five Fingers Point Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Five Fingers Point Lighthouse
Also known as: Five Fingers Point (Resolution Island)
Located on a remote headland of New Zealand's Fiordland coast, the Five Fingers Point Lighthouse stands as a white skeletal steel tower standing 9 meters tall. Its focal height reaches 166 meters, emitting a white light that flashes once every 20 seconds. The lighthouse is named for the nearby Five Fingers, a group of five stone pillars that present a navigational hazard. Access to this isolated location is generally by helicopter. While visitors can access the site, the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is important for guiding vessels past the hazardous Five Fingers rock formations along the Fiordland coast.
