About Daesong Hang Lighthouse
Daesong Hang lighthouse stands as a cylindrical concrete tower, built in 2010, at the end of the Daesong breakwater. It is located on the north side of the Ganjeolot peninsula, near Ulsan. The tower, painted red, measures 9 meters in height with a focal plane of 12 meters. Its base is expanded, a characteristic of its design. The light emits a single red flash every 6 seconds, visible for 11 nautical miles. While the site is open to visitors, the tower itself is closed to the public. This structure is 8.2 kilometers from the nearest port.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels approaching the Daesong breakwater, a critical point for the harbor entrance. Its light aids local fishing boats and commercial traffic in safely navigating the waters of the Ganjeolot peninsula.
